# ImgCap

#### Introduction
A practice project for a browser plugin that automatically adds alternative text to images on opened webpages using AI.
The main idea is derived from the project at https://github.com/ddeng36/plugin.

#### Installation Guide

1. Install via the Chrome Web Store: Search for ImgCap in the Chrome Web Store and click to install. Alternatively, click the link below to install: [Install ImgCap](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/imgcap/bdmkhdjcccpjofldopgcncfhabcnheaa)

2. If you have difficulty accessing the Chrome Web Store, you can also install by downloading the crx plugin file: [Download ImgCap crx](https://gitee.com/stonelf/ImgCap/blob/master/imgcap.crx)

3. If you want to experience the latest development version, you can also install manually:

    3.1. Download the latest version from the address: [Download ImgCap zip](https://gitee.com/stonelf/ImgCap/blob/master/imgcap.zip)
    
    3.2. Unzip the file locally.
    
    3.3. Open the Chrome browser's chrome://extensions/ control panel.
    
    3.4. Turn on the developer mode switch in the upper right corner.
    
    3.5. Click on "Load unpacked" in the upper right corner.
    
    3.6. Select the unzipped folder to complete the installation.

#### Usage Instructions

1. Click on the extension button in the Chrome browser. The button is usually on the right side of the address bar and features a puzzle piece logo.
   
2. In the expanded extension list, find ImgCap and click the pin icon in front of it to pin the ImgCap icon to the extension list.
   
3. Open the webpage you need to interpret in the browser, then click the ImgCap icon to open the plugin panel and click the run button, waiting for the AI to analyze the images on the webpage.
   
4. If you do not have a screen reader installed, you can click on the ImgCap image to open the plugin panel, check the auto-play box, and the plugin will automatically play voice prompts when the image is selected.
   
5. If you wish for the script to automatically recognize images on the webpage and provide analysis every time a webpage is opened, you can check the auto-run box, and the plugin will run automatically after the webpage loads. However, to conserve tokens, this box may be automatically unchecked after a period of time. If you still need this feature, you will need to recheck the box to enable it.
