The Natural Language Processing Lab at Tsinghua University (thunlp) is a part of The State Key Lab of Intelligent Technology and Systems, and The Institute for Artificial Intelligence at Tsinghua University. The lab is built in the 1970s as one of the earliest and most influential NLP institutes in China. The lab keeps working on theories, methodologies, and algorithms for computer processing and understanding of human languages with emphasis on Chinese. The research covers a range of topics in natural language processing, including NLP based on huge-scale naturally annotated corpora, social tagging and keyphrase extraction, multilingual analysis, text classification.

The lab leader is Prof. Maosong Sun, and there are two other faculties: Prof. Yang Liu who is interested in machine translation, and Associate Prof. Zhiyuan Liu, who is interested in NLP and knowledge graphs.
